THE VINEYARDS

The vineyards represent the heart of our company. They were recently restored by selecting the appropriate rootstocks best suited to the characteristics of the soil. We chose the "gouyot semplice" system of cultivation, which involves pruning in an arch like way, conserving up to 6-7 buds for each stump, in order to produce a limited quantity of grapes. This research, coupled with a heavy emphasis in the execution of the pruning and fertilization, means that we are able to obtain high quality wines from the grapes which are harvested.

The vineyard of Barbera d'Asti DOC has an area of about 2 hectares and is situated on the top of the hills in the Comune of Cassine (AL), at an altitude of 200 meters. . The rows are positioned from east to west, with a south-north exposure. This Barbera d’Asti DOC vineyard, with an average density of 4,500 vines per hectare, is planted on a mostly silt and clay like soil, with a little limestone, and the fertility of the soil is therefore both good and balanced.

The Dolcetto d'Acqui DOC vineyard has an area of about 1 hectare, with an average density of 4,500 vines per hectare, and is located on the side of our hill in the Comune of Cassine (AL) at an altitude of about 190 metres. It is planted on a mostly silt and clay like soil, with a type of limestone which is rich in trace elements. The rows are positioned north-east and south-west and exposed to the southeast and northwest.
